Pam with Camera

Biography

Pam Fraser spent her childhood drawing, painting and writing poetry.  Born and raised in Chicago, she began her studies at the Art Institute of Chicago and as a young woman, graduated with honors in photography from Los Angeles’ Art Center College of Design.

Professionally, Pam has worked as a commercial and editorial still photographer and on the camera crew of such films as “Rocky” and “Grease”.  She was the first woman to break the gender barrier and work at Universal Studios’ camera department as well as the first woman admitted to IATSE, the storied cameraman’s union.  She has written, directed and produced public service announcements, music videos and a documentary, scripted several feature-length screenplays and exhibited artwork at SGFA Gallery in Laguna Beach, California.

“For me, art is storytelling.  Whether through a sophisticated camera lens, snapshot from a smart-phone, stick of charcoal on a blank page or words typed on a keyboard, it’s about getting the essence of a moment – a thrill, heartbreak or quiet moment of grace – imagined onto a page and known anew.”
